Japanese Paper | Katazome | Kz003
Katazome paper was developed during the 20th century in Kyoto. Each sheet is printed by hand, one colour at a time, using persimmon-dyed kozo as the stencils, and a mixture of pigments and “Kokiro” (soy bean juice) absorbs deeply into the paper to produce bold colours. Katazome papers have a slightly rough and matte surface texture.
