Handmade Mexican Paper | Amate | Chapeton
Mexican Amate Bark Paper has been in use since pre-Columbian times and continues to be handcrafted by Otomi artisans in central Mexico, using the same techniques passed down by their Mesoamerican ancestors nearly 3000 years ago. This traditional paper has been utilised for religious and legal texts as well as a medium for painting. Handmade from Amate, Nettle, and Mulberry tree bark, each sheet is a blend of earth-tone fibres resulting in a stunning and unique natural paper. These acid-free papers come in a variety of vibrant and natural hues. As the paper is handmade and made from natural materials, each sheet will vary in weight, colour, shade, and pattern, making it truly one of a kind.
